1/5/2024 0 Comments Eye for an eye mags duval songLeaving the slower jam ‘This Horse’ as a final song to clean up the mess and assure your neighbors that you’re really gonna turn down the volume this time.Īnd last, but surely not least, Dr. ‘Rubber Nights,’ jokingly dubbed during liveshows as Rob de Nijs, sucks you into a more manic state, only to explode in the instrumental ‘GMT+1,’ giving their vocalist a moment to grab some beers for the rest. Duval, self-released, 2014, almost describes a manic-depressive state of mind, alternating between contagiously high energy and slurring dysphoria, providing a perfect example of those black metal drums during the finale. The opening track of their second single Dr. Oh yeah, and make sure to check out their 2011 demo songs, ‘Eiffeltoe’ and ‘Baphomet’s Rite.’ Explore Me, Dead Elvis and Traumahelikopter. It’s probably the reason why the guys over at Kliko Records decided add the song ‘Def’ to their compilation Dutch Garage Rock Explosion alongside greats like the Anomalys, E.T. The twangy guitar, reverb-soaked vocals, dragging bass and battering drums shape up to roughly five and a half minutes of explosive garage punk. Their debut single the Sun was self-released in 2013 and home recorded in the aforementioned blood-smeared trailer. Honestly, what’s not to like about this band and their DIY aesthetics? All of the tracks are recorded straight onto an old tape machine, to be mixed by a close friend. Their vocalist designs the band’s artwork, and every slipcover is hand folded and numbered. Both Duval’s vocalist and drummer have been involved in the Dutch black metal scene for quite some years, also playing in Fluisteraars, an atmospheric black metal band that describes itself as ‘music from Gelderland.’ Their garage punk meets black metal sound is a surprising and refreshing one, but not completely out of the blue. Duval has released three singles, two of which were self-released, filled with a particular style of wild bone-crushing garage rock, mixing repetitive riffs, a dragging bass, battering drums with a whiff of black metal, and the reverb-drowned howlin’ cries of a madman. Taking their name from their favorite pack of rolling papers, Dr. Duval, so it’s very good that your eyes lingered on this little feature about an underrated band in the Dutch garage rock scene. ![]() Guess what happens when you let four long-haired degenerates, who spent their childhood in the middle of the secluded woods of Bennekom, the Netherlands, locked up in in a dirty smoke-filled blood-smeared trailer in their mid-twenties and given a bunch of instruments, conveniently placed in the middle of nowhere?Ĭhances are you have not yet heard of Dr. ![]() ![]() This sound is heard throughout the rest of the game, and gradually gets quicker as more pages are collected, as well as several other layering sounds. The end of this grace period is indicated by a repetitive stomping sound echoing in the background. However, the difficulty level increases the longer one goes without collecting any pages. There is also a grace period in the very beginning of the game, during which Slender Man remains inactive for only a few minutes, or until the player collects the first page. However, instead of the normal death screen appearing, a slightly different version is played in which the static slowly fades out instead of abruptly stopping.Ī few moments later the player awakens in the forest, now in the daytime, and can move around for a few seconds before the screen goes black and plays the end credits. ![]() Once all the pages are collected, one is allowed to walk around for a couple of seconds in total silence until Slender Man finally appears behind the player and ends the game. Even if the player's character successfully collects all the eight pages, the Slender Man will continue to chase them. The game over screen shows Slender Man's face up close and blinking static pulses. A game over occurs when either the player has taken too long to find a note, the player stares at Slender Man for too long, or if Slender Man comes into contact with the player, which will turn them around and end the game. "Sprinting" allows the player to move faster than "jogging" does, but will also decrease the maximum stamina available for "jogging" and "sprinting". This then allows the ability to "sprint" to become available to the player. Slender Man will occasionally appear in the player's field of vision, accompanied with a loud piano slamming noise and/or static on the screen. The player's character has the ability to "jog", which will eventually tire out the player and make them wheeze if forced to go on for too long, causing slower walking as well. The player is equipped with only a flashlight to see through the dark (its battery life is limited and will eventually shut down permanently if left on for an extended period of time). Slender Man moves by teleporting, creeping around the player, but only from a certain distance. As the player collects pages, the fog in the forest grows thicker, and Slender Man appears closer to the player's character, though the character's sprinting speed slowly increases as well. ![]() The player's objective is to collect all eight notes located in various areas of the forest while avoiding the Slender Man. Slender: The Eight Pages is set in the middle of a forest during the middle of the night, and is played from a first person perspective. The character is known for the ominous (although fictitious) abduction of countless children in dark mysterious settings, such as deep forests and abandoned buildings. Hadley, the game is based on the quasi-folklore meme figure known as the Slender Man, who is depicted as a tall man wearing all black with a white face with no facial features. Slender: The Eight Pages (formerly called Slender) is a free-to-play indie-developed first-person survival horror video game released in June 2012 as a beta for Microsoft Windows and OS X by Parsec Productions, using the Unity engine. 1/5/2024 0 Comments Rode fuzzmeasure review![]() Our friends at recently published a blog post that presented the question “Do you need a measurement microphone to setup speaker calibration?” Their hope was that we already own a mic that will allow us to run a decent trial of Sonarworks Reference. ![]() You can also use your measurement microphone (read Sonarworks article here) and use your own microphone calibration file (read more here). The recommended Sonarworks Measurement Microphone comes bundled with certain products and is also available for purchase for $69 (USD), and comes with a 21-day free software trial. Injury severity is a fun toy and increasing it can really force you to start thinking about squad depth and youth players.
